It's a route for experienced people, ready for contact with the elements and nature at its most beautiful.

About 9 km of the lower Słupia in the heart of the Słupia Valley Landscape Park – with fallen trees, a brisk current and a calm finish on wild Lake Głębokie. A wild river, a demanding route and nature that takes your breath away.

Section description

It's a section for those who know what fallen trees, a current accelerating between obstacles and the unpredictable wildness of a river are. On the first kilometres of the Słupia trip you'll meet many natural obstacles – it's a place where water meets the forest in its most primeval form.

That's why we recommend this trip to paddlers who already have at least a few trips on rivers with obstacles behind them.

What can you expect?

On this route you'll have to deal with:

numerous fallen trees (which can be cleared „over the top" or „underneath" – depending on the water level),
a brisk current that in several places literally squeezes between the obstacles,
changeable terrain – wide and calm in places, only to suddenly turn into a narrow channel with faster flow.

Nature without compromise – the Słupia Valley Landscape Park

The route runs through the most beautiful parts of the Słupia Valley Landscape Park, one of the most unique natural areas of Pomerania. By kayak you cross the area of the Gołębia Góra nature reserve, and the final section leads through the beautiful Lake Głębokie.

Here you may spot:

a majestic white-tailed eagle circling over the water,
rare species, such as the black stork or the red kite,
on the banks – otters, and where the current is calmer, signs of beaver lodges.

It's a paradise for lovers of nature photography and those who value an authentic experience of nature – without crowds and without artificial noise.

The crowning point of the trip: Lake Głębokie

The last stage of the trip leads through Lake Głębokie – and it's literally like a fairy tale. The water becomes calm, the forest is reflected in the surface, and all you can do is calmly drift towards the landing. It's a perfect moment for photos, a swim or a short stop by the shore. The lake itself is protected, so its banks are wild and the views untainted by civilisation. We finish the trip in the middle of the lake, on the right-hand side, at our Kayak Landing.

Is this section for beginners?

We don't recommend it for a first time. It's a route for intermediate paddlers – with fallen trees and a brisk current. For a start, choose „My First Time in a Kayak" or „The Gentle Łupawa".

Are there permanent portages?

There are no permanent portages. Fallen trees are cleared „over the top" or „underneath", depending on the water level.

Will I really see wild animals?

No one can guarantee an encounter, but this is the area of a reserve and the Słupia Valley Landscape Park – white-tailed eagles, black storks, otters and signs of beavers are an everyday sight here.

Where does the trip end?

On Lake Głębokie – in the middle of the lake, on the right-hand side, at our Kayak Landing.
