Extreme Łupawa

  • Difficulty of the route: hard
  • River: Łupawa
  • Start: Kozin
  • End: Łupawa
  • Length: 21 km
  • Duration of the route: 6-7 h
  • Number of places requiring carrying the kayaks: 1
  • Preferred equipment: single, mountain single, double
  • Minimal number of participants: 8 Person

Łupawa in general is a difficult river and the section we present here is particularly hard. The adventure begins innocently - from lowland beginning behind the merger with Bukovina, through the great forest valley until we reach the first stone rapids at Czarna Dąbrówka. Then the river runs between the boulders. Peaceful atmosphere is deceiving, just behind Flisów Łupawa gains the momentum of a mountain stream. From now on, there is time to joke around: the current is very rapid and the river is simply filled with dangerous underwater rocks and stones. There are also, of course, fallen trees and numerous remnants of the old bridges heating up the atmosphere. Suddenly it gets quieter - current calms down again and the river carries us slowly to the power station dam in Łupawa dam.

Carrying the kayaks is possible here - depending on the water level, there are also shallows requiring towing the kayaks.

Less adventurous activities include visiting hydroelectric power station in Łupawa and the Church in Łupawa from the eighteenth century.

Łupawa on this section of the route is advisable only for very experienced kayakers after many kayaking trips  and who  aware of the dangers of kayaking on rivers of the mountain nature.
